It has
been a while, but I could not let 2018 pass by without posting anything. What
better time than to do this in the middle of the holiday season? This truly is
my favourite time of the year. There are so many layers to why I love this time
of the year so much.
In an
ideal world, we would always be thankful and grateful for all that we have. We
would always be kind to one and other and make time to celebrate special
moments with each other. Reality is that we are often too caught up in all the
demands of what life is expecting from us. Around Christmas time, this all
changes. Somehow, no matter what is going on, we all stop and take time to
celebrate this season.
The
anticipation leading up to Christmas always gets me very excited. Christmas
gets my heart all warm and fuzzy. I love the lights, music, movies and all that
comes with it. Seeing homes with Christmas trees, handwritten Christmas cards,
walking through the city and seeing all the lights shining bright adds so much
to the magical Christmas feeling.
It is
also the season of giving. To me, this has got nothing to do with gifts. It is
about giving back in any way you can think of. This does not necessarily mean
material things, sometimes an act of kindness is worth more than all the money
in the world. We should always be giving, but somehow around Christmas time it
seems like many people put in some extra effort. Another reason why I love this
season so much.
Christmas
is also a time a time when we miss those who are no longer with us a little bit
more than the rest of the year. I always try to fill this void with the fond
memories that I have of my loved ones. Going down memory lane brings back happy
thoughts and makes them feel closer.
Counting
down to Christmas cannot start early enough for me, but once it is here, it
goes by so fast. I do not think that it would be a good thing if Christmas was
here for 365 days a year, because than this season would not be as special as
it is now. However, if we all could be as thankful and giving throughout the
year like we are at Christmas, than I bet you that the world would have much
more love going around.
Now that
Boxing Day is over, New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. Enjoy the last
week of 2018. Take time to make the final days of the year count. As for me, I
am already counting down the days until Christmas 2019… only 363 days to go!
