The book that I’ve literally been ready all my life is the bible. It is the book that holds the record for ‘most sold book’ all over the world. I remember my parents having this old fashion bible when I was a kid, but these days you also have trendy bibles.
When I was in South Africa I first came across these trendy bibles. It probably helps that South Africa is a far more religious country than the Netherlands (or that I surrounded myself with more Christians over there than I do here). I saw everybody walking around with these colourful cases and I wondered what they were bringing with them to church. When the sermon started, it all became clear to me when everybody opened their bible.

I have a couple of bibles that I’ve been given throughout the years. My favourite bible that I own and am currently using is my red metal bible. I love that it’s so compact and it’s the only one I have with the New Living translation.

You can say whatever you want about the bible. Whether you’re Christian or not, you must admit that it’s a good book with wonderful (and sometimes even magical) stories. I’ve been reading the same book for over 26 years and I still find something new every time I open it.
Here’s one of my favourite phrases from the bible:
‘Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. ‘
Matthew 6:34
