The holiday season is just around the corner, but in my opinion it’s better to call it the shopping season. I know many people who like to shop, some of them even love it and could add the term ‘shop a holic’ to themselves. I myself am no stranger to shopping and I can perfectly contain myself from spending excessively (if I have to).
I love to wonder around and buy random stuff that I really don’t need. I’m one of those types who likes gadgets and original, rare and never seen before things. On the other hand, I like to shop for clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery as well. I have my moments though. I could buy five pair of shoes in one week, but I can also go without buying any for months. I guess it depends on my mood or whether I come across something special or not.
The most fun part of shopping to me is to buy gifts for the people I care about. I give a lot of thought before buying a gift, because I want it to suit the person who the gift is meant for. It is not always easy to come up with the perfect gift, but when you do it is really satisfying to make someone feel special through the gift.
This is why I love shopping season. I always end up with multiple bags full of presents. I celebrate Sinterklaas (Dutch holiday) and Christmas several times (with different groups of friends and family) and love it when I ‘have’ to get out there to find the perfect gift for everybody. And there is nothing better to wrap the presents yourself... yes, I’m a sucker for the shopping season!
Sinterklaas arrived in the Netherlands today (a blog about him will follow soon) and Christmas is only 42 days away... so it is a fact: shopping season is here! :-) Enjoy shopping everybody and make sure that you put good thoughts into your gift shopping!
